I don’t know about you, but one of my New Years Resolutions (yes we’re still talking about New Years Resolutions in March) is to read more books. Especially more books by Filipinx authors.

If this sounds like you, may I direct you to an incredibly talented writer, Shannon C.F. Rogers. Author of I’D RATHER BURN THAN BLOOM, Rogers describes herself as a “a multiracial American writer of Filipinx and European descent” similar to the main character of her debut novel.

I’D RATHER BURN THAN BLOOM

Publisher: Feiwel & Friends

Publish Date: July 11, 2023

EAN/UPC: 9781250845665

I’D RATHER BURN THAN BLOOM follows a multiracial Filipino-American teen who suddenly loses her mother and must navigate through her grief while figuring out her identity. It’s a well-written, honest, and funny YA novel that I personally would recommend to anyone with a listening ear.

Through our sister podcast, IT’S OKAY TO BUY ANOTHER BOOK!, I interview Shannon about her writing process, her novel (with spoilers!), and her top three books to recommend. It’s worth a watch/listen!

If you’re looking for a more laid-back interview with Shannon, be sure to check out Kwento-Kwento’s episode with her premiering April 11, 2024!
